35th Conference of the Refugee Studies Centre in Oxford

In March 2017, Nina Sahraoui, EU Border Care Research Associate presented two different insights into the work she conducted in the Spanish enclave of Melilla in North Africa. At the “Trespassing the Borders” conference held at the University of Warwick Nina presented a paper entitled “Postcolonial, biopolitical and humanitarian border enforcement at a European border in North Africa”. The Refugee Studies Centre in Oxford hosted the following week its 35th conference “Beyond Crisis: Rethinking Refugee Studies”. Nina presented a paper entitled “Interwoven Spaces of Deterrence and Care in the Border City of Melilla.”
